Letus Nikon AI Mount

The Letus AI lens mount should work with an lens/brand that has a Nikon F mount.

Compatible Lenses

These Lenses are known to work with the Letus Nikon AI Mount

  • Nikon AI lenses
  • Nikon AI-S lenses
  • Nikon AF Lenses
  • Nikon AF-D Lenses
  • Nikon AF-S Lenses
  • Sigma AF Lenses
  • Any other lens that uses the Nikon “F” style mount (manufactured after 1959)

Some Nikon mount lenses do not have aperture rings (see “G” description below). You will want to make sure your lens has manual focus and aperture control as the Letus Nikon mount does not have an electronic interface to control the electronic features.

Nikon Lens Designations

Nikon DX Lenses

Nikon lenses with the DX designation do not have a full frame image (36mmx24mm). These lenses are designed for the smaller image size of DX cameras (APS-C - 23.6mm x 15.7mm) so you will experience vignetting when using these lenses. You will need to zoom in further onto the ground glass, with the camera, to avoid vignetting when using these lenses.
Example of Nikon DX lens - AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR

Nikon G Lenses

Nikon lenses with the G designation do not have an aperture ring, so the only way to control the aperture on theses lenses is to manually force the aperture open. There is a spring loaded aperture arm on the rear of “G” lenses that can be manually manipulated to adjust the aperture.

Example of Nikon “G” Lens - AF-S Micro NIKKOR 60mm f/2.8G ED

Nikon VR Lenses

Nikon VR lenses have vibration reduction in them, since the Letus Nikon AI mount does not have an electronic interface this feature will not work.

Notes

The silver button on the Nikon AI mount slides back (away from the lens) to release the lens, do not unscrew this button.
