Step down rings can also be used to attach a Letus Adapter to your camera, if these conditions are met.
- The Adapter diameter MUST be larger than the lens diameter of your video camera
Determining Filter Thread Size
In order to determine the filter size of your camera/lens you can look in the documentation of your equipment or look to see if it is printed directly on the lens. The filter size is listed right after the the circle with a line through it. In the example below the camera lens has a 58mm filter thread and would need a Letus 58mm thread ring.

2/3" cameras
The 2/3” camera system is a very high end camera that is used primarily in broadcast production work. These cameras are ENG cameras which typically means they have removable lenses and are shoulder mount cameras.
2/3” Camera examples:
- Panasonic AG-HPX500
- Sony PDW-700
1/2" cameras
The 1/2” cameras are the step between the smaller prosumer 1/3” cameras and broadcast 2/3” cameras. These cameras typically have 3 CCD or 3 CMOS sensors. Some 1/2” cameras also feature removable lenses.

- Sony PDW-F350
- Sony PMW-EX1
- Sony PMW-EX3
1/3" cameras
Many prosumer cameras fall into this category. These cameras typically have 3 CCD or 3 CMOS sensors, some have removable lenses and some do not. There are several different formats used with 1/3” sensors, from small hand held cameras, to larger ENG style cameras.
1/3” Handheld Camears examples:
- Canon XH-A1
- Panasonic AG-HVX200
- Sony HDR-FX1
1/3” ENG Style Cameras examples:
- JVC GY-HD100
- Panasonic AG-HPX300
1/4" and smaller cameras
Most consumer grade cameras fall into this format. These cameras are generally very small, hand held cameras. These camera usually have anywhere from 1 CMOS sensor to 3 CCD, and normally do not have removable lenses.
